Wellington wildfire contained before it reaches nearby homes

WELLINGTON — A small vegetation fire in southeast Wellington the afternoon of March 18 burned more than acre in a drainage area near some homes.

The fire was first reported at 2:01 p.m., and crews arrived “within a few minutes,” Wellington Fire Chief Todd Germain told a Coloradoan reporter at the scene.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Office was on hand to begin evacuations of nearby homes, Germain said, but crews had the fire contained before any evacuation notices were issued…
