Due to dry conditions, high temperatures, strong winds and a lack of moisture, the Estes Valley Fire Protection District will begin Stage 1 open burning restrictions effective at 8 a.m. Thursday for the Estes Park area.
Open burning that is not allowed under this restriction includes wood-burning recreational fires that are not in a permanent enclosure or portable device designed to contain fire, and pile burning.
Open burning that is allowed includes wood-burning fires in a device designed to contain the fire (not permitted in short-term rentals), charcoal and pellet fuel barbecues (not permitted in short-term rentals), gas-burning recreational fires, and smoking (with proper discard device)…
