Key decision coming on possible new Maverik gas station at Carlisle and I-40

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Residents are waiting for the city to decide on if Maverik gas station can move into the old Whole Foods building in northeast Albuquerque.

Residents are fighting Maverik as they look to move into the building at Carlisle Boulevard and Indian School Road. Maverik is asking the city for a conditional use permit to put the gas station/convenience store on that current lot and for permission to keep two driveways on Indian School for access.

One neighbor organizing the fight against the project said more than 100 people showed up to the zoning hearing Tuesday. Public comment lasted for over three hours, with concerned neighbors pointing out the three other gas stations in that area already…
