Dog pulled to safety after night on cliff above river

SWEET HOME, Ore. — A dog stranded on a cliff above a river in Sweet Home was safely rescued Tuesday in a coordinated effort involving local police, search and rescue crews and community members, authorities said.

Officers with the Sweet Home Police Department (SHPD) initially responded Monday night to a report of a dog in distress. They located the animal approximately 20 to 30 feet down a cliff at the river’s edge but determined conditions were too dangerous to attempt a rescue in the dark.
