Historic Columbia Highway reopens after landslide

A scenic route through the Columbia River Gorge is back open less than a week after a significant landslide closed the route during this month’s heavy rainstorm.

The Historic Columbia River Highway has reopened to motorists between Larch Mountain Road and Vista House. It had been shuttered by officials after a landslide on Monday, March 11. That means travelers can access Crown Point and the Portland Women’s Forum from both directions.

Oregon Department of Transportation crews monitored the active slide area as conditions improved with warmer, drier conditions. The hillside was fully inspected, and the debris was cleared off the roadway…
