Servant Center works to open new Greensboro facility to serve veterans facing homelessness

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — It’s been a year and a half of trials, tribulations and perseverance for the Servant Center as they worked to open a new facility on Boulevard Street in Greensboro.

The nonprofit has always served homeless veterans, but a bigger building means more support. Now, they will open their doors to female veterans, too.

Greensboro city leader wants businesses to be held accountable for complaints

Executive Director of the Servant Center Shanna Reece says her team took a step back during the renovations to ensure they covered all their bases.

“We get mattresses from the Marine Corps League for any veteran in Guilford County that’s exiting homelessness and going into an apartment,” Reece said.

Reece says that during the journey, her team faced many challenges, from finding mold in the entire building to all the copper being stolen from the building, costing them nearly $90,000 to replace…
