Maryville man sentenced to decade in prison for trying to entice children in Knoxville: DOJ

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – A Maryville man has been sentenced to a decade behind bars after he tried to entice two children in Knoxville.

According to the United States Department of Justice, 41-year-old Ryan Patrick Garrett was arrested in March 2025 after an investigation by the Tennessee Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force found he made plans to meet two children, ages nine and 12, in Knoxville for “sexual activities.”

Garrett pleaded guilty to one count of attempted enticement and was sentenced on Wednesday to 10 years in prison, the DOJ said. After he is released, he will be on supervised release for 30 years and will be required to register with state sex offender registries and comply with special sex offender conditions…
