NORFOLK, Va. — Federal officials say dozens of electric bikes shipped into Hampton Roads were blocked from entering the U.S. after failing to meet required safety standards.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced Tuesday that officers seized 35 e-bikes that arrived from China earlier this year at the Port of Norfolk-Newport News.
The shipment first raised concerns during an inspection on Jan. 7. Officers noted the bikes were only partially assembled and did not have the proper certification labels or safety markings required under federal law. The bikes were held for further review…
