New location for Champs Chance dog rescue in Quincy remains uncertain amid zoning concerns

QUINCY, Fla. (WCTV) – The location of the animal rescue facility Champs Chance in Gadsden County remains uncertain after being forced to shut down operations nearly a year ago.

Alicia Bopp, owner of Champs Chance, faced a lengthy zoning violation battle with county officials due to complaints from citizens about her facility operating from home, WCTV previously reported in July. As a result, she had to change her operations and the group now operates as a foster.

At that time, a circuit judge affirmed a ruling from a special magistrate that upheld a county code violation order, specifically stating that Bopp’s home was “a designation that expressly prohibits commercial operations such as boarding kennels and animal shelters.”…
