Ex-Corpus Christi cop pleads not guilty to misusing nonprofit funds

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A former Corpus Christi police officer pleaded not guilty Thursday for misusing nonprofit funds from the CC Citizens Police Academy Alumni Inc. for personal expenses.

Travis Haecker is awaiting a trial date in connection with allegations that he withdrew $1,200 in cash through six ATM transactions, failed to deposit donated funds promptly, and made unauthorized debit card purchases at a vape shop and a gambling website.

Detectives said Haecker was the only police officer authorized to possess a debit or credit card linked to the nonprofit’s Value Bank account…
