Edina High School students develop app to connect patients receiving infusions

Two Edina High School students have launched an app aimed at connecting patients receiving time-consuming and tedious IV treatments.

The idea came to Minnetonka native Luke Wachowiak while he was undergoing an IV drip for dermatomyositis, a chronic autoimmune disease. His goal was to provide patients receiving intravenous treatment a way to connect with each other, per a news release from the City of Edina.

He later approached his Edina High School classmate Logan Bracken, who had learned how to code during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the idea, and the TogetherIV app was born, after getting feedback from doctors, nurses, and fellow patients.

The app connects people with others getting IV treatment at the same time. Users are able to hang out, play games, chat, and get support in a welcoming online space, according to their website…
