Teen pleads guilty to 2023 Shreveport Mardi Gras parade shooting that killed East Texas student

SHREVEPORT, La. — The teenager accused in the shooting death of an East Texas student-athlete at a 2023 Mardi Gras parade in Shreveport has pleaded guilty to negligent homicide.

Jace Greenslate, who was 16 years old at the time, is charged in connection with the death of Kip Lewis, 17, who was a student at Elysian Fields High School.

Caddo Parish court officials confirmed Greenslate, now 19, changed his plea of not guilty to a guilty plea on Feb. 20. His sentencing has been set for Friday, March 20…
