Construction is getting ready to kick into high gear at the old Shreveport Police Headquarters at 1234 Texas Street. Fencing has gone up around the property and some of the demolition work will be the first step. KEEL News asked SPAR Director Shelly Ragle some questions about this project.
When Will Demolition Work Start
Ragle says “they are currently doing selective demolition on items that can be salvaged. The demolition work will not look like a normal “go in and wreck ‘em project”, since we are salvaging much of the building and its elements for reuse.” Ragle says the only part of the building that will actually be torn down is the former courts section which is on the north side of the property.
The contractor is now in the building salvaging many items that can be re-used.
What Is the Time Frame for the Demolition?
Ragle tells us they have not gotten the final project schedule. Once that is set in stone, the city will then have a timeline for the entire project
When Will the New Construction Begin?
