A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. Thursday, March 19th, through 4 a.m. Friday, March 20th, for communities along the eastern Kenai Peninsula and northern Gulf coast, including Girdwood, Portage, and Turnagain Pass.
Forecasters say widespread snowfall is expected, with totals ranging from 6 to 12 inches. Some localized areas could see as much as 18 inches. During periods of heavier snow, rates may reach up to one inch per hour, significantly reducing visibility and quickly covering roadways.
