Loudon County veterinarian leads care for Iditarod dogs

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Jessie remains perfect in the Iditarod. The former reality TV star won this year’s race for the second straight year. He captured last year’s contest in his first year.

Homeless rolled into Nome, Ark., early Wednesday morning to complete the roughly 1,000-mile journey across the state in the “Last Great Race on Earth.”

“Everything’s about these sled dogs. They’re amazing,” Dr. Erika Friedrich, this year’s chief veterinarian, said.
