A beloved doorman at an Upper West Side building was violently attacked while on duty — and his neighbors have launched a fundraising campaign to help him through what could be a lengthy recovery.
Nicolate “George” Lica, a doorman at 255 West 88th Street, was recently assaulted by the guest of a tenant while working in the building’s lobby. The attack left him hospitalized with serious injuries, including broken ribs. He has since been released and is recovering at home.
