SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Temperatures made it to the 70s Wednesday after a cold start to the morning with overnight lows well below average, and a warming trend is expected to continue through the weekend with highs approaching 80 degrees.
The overnight low Wednesday morning dropped to 47 degrees — 11 degrees below the average of 58 for this time of year. The record low for the date is 33, set in 1916. The record high is 88. Wednesday’s high reached 73 degrees.
Forecast through the weekend
Thursday will bring some high clouds but mostly sunny skies, with highs in the low to mid-70s expected even near the coast. Temperatures Thursday morning will be about 10 degrees warmer than Wednesday morning. A high of 77 is forecast for Northport, Sarasota Parish and Lakewood Ranch, with 76 in Venice.
Friday will be warmer still, with temperatures near 70 degrees by noon and climbing into the upper 70s by late afternoon. Friday morning lows are expected in the low 50s. A high of 78 is forecast for Friday, with highs close to 80 on Saturday and Sunday.
Humidity and wind
