Charleston County considers new notification rules for short-term rentals

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) — Leaders in Charleston County are considering a new rule that could change how neighbors find out about short-term rentals in their communities.

The proposal would require notifications to be sent out when certain short-term rental permits are issued or renewed, something that doesn’t currently happen in all cases.

Right now, some of the most common short-term rentals, known as “limited home rentals,” do not require any notice to nearby residents. These are properties where the owner lives on-site and rents out the home for part of the year…
