Parkview volunteer honored for 50 years of service

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) — A Fort Wayne woman was honored for her 50 years of volunteer service work for Parkview.

Thursday, Joan LeGrand was honored with a special award for her volunteer work during Parkview Health’s Volunteer Listening Tour.

Joan began volunteering for Parkview in 1970 while she worked as an elementary school teacher. Since then, she’s accumulated over 10,000 hours of volunteer work for Parkview. In her time there, Joan has worked as a candy striper, patient escort, patient care support, and in special projects, as well as PRN support.

At 89 years old, Joan has done more than just volunteer at Parkview; she has also volunteered at the Fort Wayne Zoo and currently teaches master gardening through Purdue Extension…
