CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Two former employees at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center are speaking out against the hospital, claiming they told supervisors about concerns they had regarding former OB-GYN Dr. Javaid Perwaiz.

Lyn Johnson worked at CRMC for nearly a decade as a discharge planner and utilization nurse. Johnson worked exclusively on Saturdays and Sundays, when Perwaiz performed the bulk of his surgeries. She said it didn’t take long to notice red flags.
The first thing she noticed was that many of Perwaiz’s patients were listed as “outpatient,” meaning they could receive care and return home the same day. But more often than not, Perwaiz’s patients showed signs that they needed more extensive care after their procedures.
“What I found was that a lot of his patients had a really high acuity, which means they had enough things going on with them medically … that should have had them placed as an inpatient,” Johnson said…
