2 men apprehended on drug charges after traffic stop in Fruitland Park

An Ocala man and his companion were apprehended on narcotics charges after their vehicle was found to have foil, chopped straws, and fentanyl.

An officer stopped 27-year-old Daniel Patrick Simpson, 29-year-old Johnny Shayne Simpson, and a female passenger at Dixie Avenue and Miller Street around 12:35 a.m. Thursday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. Their silver Ford SUV had crossed into the bicycle lane, resulting in the traffic stop.

Johnny, the driver, did not have a license. While he searched for it, the officer focused his attention on Daniel, who appeared nervous in the backseat. He lied during the chat, claiming to be 26 years old, according to the investigation…
