NEW YORK — New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a new pilot program that will add firearm access and injury risk screenings to emergency department visits, aiming to prevent violence before it happens.
The $1.5 million investment from the New York State Office of Gun Violence Prevention will expand the Firearm Injury and Mortality Prevention initiative, developed by Northwell Health, to Buffalo, Rochester and the Bronx.
