Fort Pierce commission ends pay dispute, votes 4-1 to approve union worker raises

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — Fort Pierce city commissioners voted Thursday to approve pay raises for unionized city workers, ending a wage dispute that had reached an impasse between the city and its Teamsters bargaining union.

In a 4-1 vote, the commission approved a pay increase of 5% or a minimum of $1.20 per hour, whichever is greater. The raises will be retroactive to Oct. 1, 2025, meaning eligible employees will receive back pay.
