Worcester restricts water use amid ‘critical’ drought

The City of Worcester is banning all nonessential outdoor water usage as a result of critical drought conditions in Central Massachusetts.

On March 9, the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority declared the central region of Massachusetts, which includes Worcester County, was in a level three critical drought.

The authority categorizes drought severity on a scale of zero, meaning normal conditions, to four, the most severe level. At level three, the state advises communities to ban all nonessential outdoor water use…
