The owners of a vintage store in Chicago are opening up about the “overwhelming” aftermath of a car plowing through one of their shops and destroying almost everything inside.

Sarah Azzouzi and Kyla Embrey, the owners of vintage brand Lost Girls and its two stores in Chicago, spoke to PEOPLE about the incident that left their Logan Square location in shambles on Wednesday, March 18. The store — which sold a variety of vintage and handmade pieces, including clothing and houseware — lost nearly everything in the accident.

Azzouzi and Embrey tell PEOPLE that they first heard about the incident when their “hysterical” neighbor called them while they were working at their studio. The two later learned exactly what happened after they drove to the site, including how the driver managed to smash through their store…
