As of Thursday afternoon, Amarillo has officially hit 90° for the first time in 2026. This just sets us up for more heat. We’ll stay in the 90°s through Saturday, with heat records possible. Winds Thursday and Friday stay generally lighter with overnight lows in the 50°s.
Saturday, our hottest day of the week, southwesterly winds will start to pick up to 10-20 mph, which will be dry, prompting some wildfire concerns for the day, so make sure to stay vigilant for threats. We’ll cool somewhat early next week…
