When the Texas Education Agency told Houston’s Legacy School of Sport Sciences that it had violated a ‘three-strikes’ rule and would lose its charter, the school community protested.
Now the sports-focused school — founded by athletes Kerrie Patterson-Brown and her husband, former Detroit Lions player Reggie Brown — will stay open with some conditions.
The school has to improve its academic rating from a D to a C next year, or the commissioner can revoke the charter again. It also has to submit a plan this summer to show how it will earn a B rating in the future…
