Hostage 911 Hang-Up Sparks Deadly-Force Response On Salem’s State Street

Just before 7 a.m. Tuesday, a brief 911 hang-up call from the 4700 block of State Street escalated into a deadly-force encounter involving deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, officials said. The incident unfolded at 6:54 a.m., and a suspect was taken to a local hospital. No injuries to deputies were reported, according to the sheriff’s office.
