A quiet afternoon at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC) took an unexpected turn Thursday when a small plane was forced to make an emergency landing on the prison’s ranch property.
At approximately 2:46 p.m., a fixed-wing propeller plane touched down in a field directly south of the main prison buildings. According to NNCC staff, the two occupants—a man and a woman from Carson City—reported that the aircraft’s engine died mid-flight, leaving them with no choice but to land on the correctional facility’s grounds.
The landing occurred in an area of the ranch typically used for cattle and horses.
