A significant blow has been dealt to local illicit drug distribution following a comprehensive investigation by the Regional Narcotics Unit (RNU). Authorities announced this week the arrest of 29-year-old Javonn Perkins, a suspect linked to a high-volume narcotics operation and the possession of an illegal arsenal within the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area.

The operation began in early 2026, sparked by confidential intelligence detailing a suspect allegedly dealing narcotics while maintaining an array of illegal firearms. Following weeks of surveillance and investigative work, detectives secured a search warrant for two specific motel rooms situated along the South Virginia Street corridor.

The subsequent raid was a massive display of inter-agency cooperation. The RNU led the charge, supported by the Regional Crime Suppression Unit (RCSU), the Reno Police Department’s Patrol Division, and specialized K9 units from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
