ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Red Cross of Alaska says a fire at an apartment complex on North Lane Street in Mountain View Wednesday afternoon displaced approximately 10 people.
The Anchorage Fire Department said two adults were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation injuries while the cause of the fire that damaged all seven units in the building, remains under investigation.
Excelia Hendrickson, her 6-year-old son and her mother, Christina Sallison, lived at the complex. Hendrickson said she had just picked her son up from elementary school and was a few blocks away when she saw smoke.
“And I thought it was coming from down the alley, but then I actually looked and I saw all the black smoke in the sky and I just screamed, ‘can you keep my son please? and I darted,”’ she said…
