Bedford County Sheriff responds to concerns about school gun investigation, says lockdown was not necessary

BEDFORD COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Responding to concerns from families about the response to a gun being taken to Bedford Elementary School, Sheriff Mike Miller says, “There was no reason to put the school on lockdown.”

The gun was found in the school March 13, according to the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the gun was secured, and the student involved was removed from the classroom setting. No injuries were reported…
