TOLEDO, Ohio — Residents of one west Toledo neighborhood were asked to shelter in place Wednesday after police were called to investigate a suspicious package.
A mail carrier contacted Toledo police after they spotted a suspicious package in a standalone mail box located near the corner of Capistrano Avenue and Bennett Road, according to a police report. The carrier also noted they had “an unusual interaction with the person that dropped the package off, and observed the package to be unusual as well.”
Area residents were asked at about 5:30 p.m. to shelter in place and Bennett Road was closed between Crawford and Pointsetta avenues while the Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad and a specialized K9 unit responded to the scene, police said.
