Endangered sea turtle recovering after being stranded on Texas beach

GALVESTON, Texas — A massive Kemp’s ridley sea turtle that washed ashore along the Texas coast is now recovering after being rescued by researchers last week and treated by veterinarians. The endangered turtle was found lethargic and covered in barnacles and algae before being rushed for care.

The Gulf Center for Sea Turtle Research said its rescue team received a report early Saturday, March 7, of an adult female Kemp’s ridley sea turtle that had washed ashore.
