Testimony is wrapping up in New Orleans staged-crash trial. Here’s where things stand.

Federal prosecutors rested their case Thursday morning in the blockbuster trial of two New Orleans injury attorneys accused of running lawsuit mills for passengers in staged wrecks with big rig trucks.

Attorneys for defendants Vanessa Motta and Jason Giles, along with a third defendant, Diaminike Stalbert, and prosecutors were set to begin closing arguments Thursday afternoon following more than two weeks of testimony.

Motta, Giles and their respective law firms are accused of running parallel fraud schemes, paying “slammers” to fill cars with passengers and steer them into tractor-trailers so they could sue for big dollars over bogus injuries…
