SF man convicted guilty for 3 counts of attempted murder

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Sioux Falls man has been found guilty of three counts of attempted first-degree murder of a law enforcement officer that happened in April 2025.

In a press release from the South Dakota Office of the Attorney General, the Union County jury found Samir Albaidhani, 26, guilty. The jury convicted Albaidhani of seven felony charges, including three counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, three counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated eluding law enforcement.

After the verdict, Albaidhani admitted to previous felony crimes. As a result, the potential sentence for each attempted murder conviction is enhanced and may include up to life imprisonment. The sentencing is scheduled for June 1.

“These were violent crimes directed at law enforcement officers who were carrying out their duties to protect the public,” Attorney General Jackley said. “I am grateful the officers survived, and I remain committed to holding offenders accountable when they target those who protect our communities.”

The incident occurred on April 1, 2025, when the Sioux Falls Police Department located Albaidhani, a parole absconder wanted on multiple outstanding warrants.
