Inflation is on the rise, and, when coupled with global conflicts like the war in Iran, gas prices are rising at a particularly unusual rate.
The south metro area is not immune to these rising costs. Along Highway 43, all five of the gas service stations between I-205 and downtown Lake Oswego noted that prices had risen over the past month.
“I order gas probably every three weeks,” said Max Fox from Bill’s Service in Lake Oswego. “I’d say a lot of people, a majority, say, ‘Oh, how much is it now? Geez, it’s so expensive. The price is so crazy now, I’ll just get $40 instead of a fill-up.’”

To take a closer look at prices in real time, this reporter headed to each of the five stations along Willamette Drive/OR 43 on Friday, March 13.
- $4.49 at the Shell next to the Kaady Car Wash in Lake Oswego
- $4.69 at Bill’s Service in Lake Oswego; their no-ethanol premium is almost $5.
- $4.59 at the Chevron across the street from the Walmart Neighborhood Market in West Linn
- $4.69 at the Shell near the I-205 northbound on-ramp in West Linn
- $4.44 at the Astro station across the street from the Shell on the northbound side of Willamette Drive.
The average price, across the five gas stations between I-205 and downtown Lake Oswego, is $4.55 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline…
