A new project in Hudson, Ohio is creating a space where all children can play together, regardless of ability. Construction is underway at Oak Grove Park for a new inclusive playground designed to bring the community together through accessible and adaptive play.
City leaders and community members said the playground will feature sensory-friendly equipment and adaptive swings, all aimed at removing barriers that often prevent children with disabilities from fully participating in traditional playgrounds with other children. The goal is to create an environment where anyone with all abilities can interact, socialize and play side-by-side.
The project is expected to cost more than two million dollars, funded through a combination of state support, contributions from the Summit County Developmental Disabilities Board and fundraising efforts.
