Arrest made after alleged strangulation of elderly woman in Mableton

Carl Keith Pressley, 53, of Austell, is accused of placing both hands around an elderly woman’s neck and strangling her on March 13 at 1:49 a.m. at a residence at 1648 Donna Street in Mableton, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

The woman was unable to breathe and felt as if she was going to die. Pressley made statements that he was going to kill her while she was being strangled. When police arrived on the scene, Pressley was told multiple times to get down on his stomach, but he refused to cooperate, according to the warrant.

Pressley is charged with aggravated assault strangulation; neglect to a disabled adult, elderly person or resident of a care facility; and obstruction/hindering law enforcement. He was arrested on March 13 at 1:49 a.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
