Victim in West Columbia shooting on Friday morning identified

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have identified a man who died after being shot in West Columbia on Friday.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that they were called to the 200 block of Hammond Avenue in the morning hours. First responders were first called to the area when deputies said a person who was bleeding started knocking on doors and asking for help.

The person was taken to an area hospital but died. While details about the incident haven’t been released publicly, the sheriff’s department said it appeared to be an isolated incident involving two people who knew each other and had a prior connection…
