Aloha Jax Shave Ice Plots Cool Island Escape On Northside’s Heckscher Drive

North Jacksonville is about to get a lot cooler. A new food truck, Aloha Jax Shave Ice, is gearing up to bring Hawaiian-style shave ice to the Northside this spring, offering an island-style way to beat the heat. Founder Marie Hinkle plans to roll out dozens of signature syrups and toppings from a spot in a planned food-truck court along Heckscher Drive. The business is still working through permitting and has not locked in an opening date yet.

Those documents indicate the operation is lining up a slot inside the food-truck court planned for the corridor.

Hinkle told What Now the concept came straight out of family travel. “We’ve traveled in Hawaii a few times, and we love their shaved ice. We have it every day when we’re there,” she said, adding that the truck is meant to complement, not compete with, the local shave-ice and dessert options already in the area.

Where It Will Park

The planned Heckscher Drive location sits on Jacksonville’s Northside along a busy corridor that funnels traffic to and from the beaches. That could put Aloha Jax in a sweet spot for warm-weather crowds looking for a quick cool-down on the way to the water or heading back home. As the owner moves through permitting, neighbors and food-truck regulars will likely keep an eye out for signage or social posts announcing a grand opening.
