Volunteers plant 22 trees in the Five Points community

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Knoxville Utilities Board, nonprofit Trees Knoxville and the Knoxville Community Development Corporation planted 22 trees in the Five Points community.

The project took place along South Olive Street and Kenner Avenue near new infill housing. The new trees add to 15 planted along Ben Hur Avenue and two red maples already there.

The trees, funded by a U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service grant, were selected by Trees Knoxville arborists to suit the local climate and neighborhood. The group will maintain the new trees throughout the summer…
