NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — New numbers show crime reports are down across Nashville, but some areas are seeing a surge on the neighborhood level.
Data from the Metro Nashville Police Department shows both violent crime and property crimes are down about 21% countywide; however, that’s not necessarily the case in some areas.
West Nashville
Violent crime has seen a 30% compared to this time last year in West Nashville, according to MNPD. The upward trend is due to a spike in assault and rape reports.

So far this year there have been eight incidents reported; last year there were zero.
East Nashville
Meanwhile, in East Nashville, every crime report is steady or lower than this time last year.
There as largely been a dip in aggravated assault cases — from 146 to 116 — or 20%.
