Syracuse Man Dies After Destiny USA Parking Lot Shooting

A 21-year-old local man, Lamar Sparks, has died following a shooting outside the Destiny USA mall in Syracuse. According to the Syracuse Police Department, officers responded to reports of gunfire in the mall’s Yellow Parking Lot around 12:14 a.m. on Saturday (March 14).

When police arrived, they learned Sparks had already been taken to Upstate University Hospital by a private vehicle. Medical staff found Sparks with a gunshot wound to the chest, and he was listed in critical condition upon arrival. The police later confirmed that Sparks died from his injuries, though the exact date of his death was not specified.

The incident occurred after most sections of Destiny USA had closed for the night. At the time of the shooting, only select venues and restaurants inside the mall were still open.
