Massachusetts has announced it will erase approximately $42 million in medical debt for about 27,000 residents through a partnership among Atrius Health Equity Foundation, Undue Medical Debt, and the Massachusetts Health & Hospital Association.
According to a Boston Globe report, Bay State residents did not have to apply for the medical debt relief. Instead, they were selected if their medical debt is at least 5% of their annual income or if they earn at or below four times the federal poverty level, the Atrius Health Equity Foundation said on Monday, March 16.
