Lincoln Fire and Rescue members welcomed home from Morrill Fire response

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and Lincoln Fire and Rescue Chief Dave Engler welcomed the return of 11 LFR members on Thursday. The firefighters were out in Ogallala where they spent four days fighting the Morrill Fire.

“Lincoln Fire and Rescue answered the call when our neighbors in western Nebraska needed help, and we are proud to welcome them home,” Mayor Gaylor Baird said. “Their courage and professionalism reflect the very best of our city. We are also grateful to the departments and volunteer firefighters across Nebraska and beyond who stood shoulder to shoulder in this response.”

In addition to 11 certified wildfire responders, LFR provided a brush rig vehicle, a water tender, and a fire engine in response to the more than 600,000-acre Morrill Fire…
