Oswego approves $40,000 downtown incentive for La Marimba renovation

Oswego trustees unanimously approved a $40,000 economic development incentive Monday for renovations at La Marimba Restaurant, backing a larger project village officials said is intended to improve the appearance and function of the downtown property at 65 W. Washington St.

Village staff told the board the restaurant is in the middle of a renovation project totaling about $120,000. Of that amount, roughly $80,000 qualifies under the village’s downtown incentive program, with the village agreeing to reimburse up to half of those eligible costs after the work is completed and paid invoices are submitted.

The project focuses on exterior improvements to the restaurant building, including reconstruction of the front entrance and facade, installation of a pergola over the rear patio, a new garage-style door and other updates meant to strengthen the property’s appearance along one of downtown Oswego’s main commercial corridors.
