(MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo.) — Along Manitou Avenue in Manitou Springs, you’ll find a variety of stores and tasty treats inside buildings over 100 years old. Lane Mitchell Jewelers is among them, set inside a charming antique building. L’Aura Williams and her husband co-own the shop, but her husband got started in the business early on, with 51 years of being a jeweler under his belt.
“We opened here in 2013,” Williams said. They chose Manitou Springs for the community, and since they already lived in the city, that was just icing on top.
“It’s so exciting when someone comes to us to get engaged, and we actually have people whose kids are now coming to us to get engaged [and] we made their parents’ rings,” Williams said.
But at the beginning of the month, they faced a setback. It was one they had never seen since opening the store 13 years ago.
