Former insurance agent indicted on 74 felony counts

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Huber Heights insurance agent has been indicted on dozens of felony counts related to the fraudulent selling of life insurance and annuities as of Friday, March 20.

Ryan Owen Tarjanyi, 52, of Huber Heights, had his license revoked by the Ohio Department of Insurance in 2023, but continued to sell life insurance and annuities through various insurance brokers.

Tarjanyi often targeted elderly clients and, when he moved from one brokerage company to another, told clients to move their policy so he could continue to manage it. He falsely claimed that there would be no fees or costs associated with moving the policy, causing clients to lose thousands of dollars in surrender fees…
