Lexington man pleads guilty to federal gun charges

A Lexington County man, De’Marionne Zaquann Miller, pleaded guilty in federal court to being a felon in possession of a firearm and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The plea was accepted by U.S. District Judge Cameron McGowan Currie in Columbia, South Carolina.

Deputies from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department responded to an apartment on June 14, 2025, after a family reported concerns that Miller was holding a victim captive. When deputies arrived, Miller fled with an AK-style rifle and a backpack containing cash, marijuana, and cellphones. A search of the apartment found more marijuana, a scale, and ammunition. Miller faces up to life in prison, a fine of $250,000, and five years of supervision after imprisonment. The case was investigated by the FBI Columbia Field Office and the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department
